The Women’s T20 World Cup is about to begin, with the ninth edition being hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The tournament will start on October 3, with Bangladesh facing Scotland at 3:30 pm IST in Sharjah, followed by Pakistan playing against Sri Lanka at 7:30 pm IST at the same venue.
India will take on New Zealand on Friday in Dubai at 7:30 pm IST, right after the 2016 champions, West Indies, play South Africa at the same venue.
Australia, the defending champions, have won the last three tournaments in a row. Overall, they have been champions six times, with only England (2009) and West Indies (2016) winning the title once each. Australia will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka on Saturday at 3:30 pm IST in Sharjah, aiming for their seventh title.
India has reached the final only once, in 2020, where they lost to Australia by 85 runs at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After the men’s team recently won the T20 World Cup, Indian women’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that they are drawing motivation from the men’s success as they head into this tournament.
