Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated his friend Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, as trends pointed to a clear Republican win. In a heartfelt message shared on X, the Prime Minister described Trump as "my friend" and extended his warm congratulations on what he called a "historic election victory." Modi expressed excitement about renewing the collaboration between India and the U.S. to further strengthen their strategic relationship. He emphasized the importance of working together to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity, as well as enhancing the India-U.S. Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership.

Trump’s Historic Victory and Political Achievements

Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election was widely seen as a major political achievement, especially as he managed to swing all seven battleground states in his favor. This marked a dramatic shift, considering the Democrats had won most of these states in 2020. Trump addressed his supporters after the election results pointed to his success, calling it a "magnificent victory for the American people." He also reflected on the July 13 assassination attempt, stating that "God spared my life for a reason." In his speech, Trump described the Republican campaign as the "greatest political movement of all time" and vowed to help heal the country, fix its borders, and continue working for the American people. He thanked his supporters, his running mate JD Vance, and his family for their unwavering support throughout the challenging campaign.

Republican Victory and its Wider Impact

Trump’s victory was not just limited to the presidency. The Republicans also gained control of the Senate and made significant strides in the House of Representatives, strengthening their hold on U.S. politics. As the electoral votes continued to come in, the Democrats faced a massive setback, with Trump’s campaign securing 315 electoral votes. In his victory speech, Trump took time to thank various people who supported him, including his wife, Melania Trump, his children, and even Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who had voiced strong support for Trump throughout the campaign.
