India's Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history on November 25, becoming the youngest player ever sold at an IPL auction. At just 13 years old, he was bought by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for an impressive ₹1.10 crore after a fierce bidding war with Delhi Capitals (DC). The auction took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Vaibhav’s record-breaking deal has made him the youngest player in IPL history. His father, Sanjiv Suryavanshi, expressed his pride in his son's achievement and dismissed rumors of age fraud. He confidently stated that Vaibhav has already undergone a BCCI bone test and is willing to do it again if needed. "He took his first bone test at 8 and a half years old. He has played for India U-19, and we are not afraid of any tests," he told PTI.

Vaibhav, born in Samastipur, Bihar, has already shown incredible talent. In October 2024, he smashed the fastest century by an Indian in Under-19 Tests, scoring 100 runs off just 58 balls against Australia U-19. Earlier in January 2024, he became the fourth-youngest Indian to debut in first-class cricket at 12 years and 284 days, playing in the Ranji Trophy against Mumbai.

Sanjiv recalled the challenges he faced supporting his son’s cricketing dreams. "He is no longer just my son; he is the pride of all of Bihar," he said. Sanjiv revealed that he sold his land to fund Vaibhav's cricket journey. "It’s been tough financially, but his success makes it worth it."

Vaibhav will now work under the guidance of Rahul Dravid, who has returned to Rajasthan Royals as head coach. He will also share the dressing room with players like Sanju Samson, Dhruv Jurel, Riyan Parag, and Jofra Archer in the upcoming IPL season.
