I Want To Talk, directed by Shoojit Sircar, tells the story of Arjun Sen (played by Abhishek Bachchan), a successful marketing professional whose life changes completely after being diagnosed with a serious illness. At first, Arjun denies his condition, but soon he decides to fight back with determination, using the same skills that made him successful in his career.
Arjun’s personal life is also a mess. He is divorced and struggling to build a relationship with his daughter, Reya (Ahilya Bamroo), who thinks he is faking his illness for attention. The movie shows his journey as he works on improving his health while trying to reconnect with his daughter. Arjun treats his illness like a project, researching symptoms and challenging his doctor to ensure he gets the best care.
,.The story is based on Arjun Sen’s real life, but the screenplay doesn’t always stay interesting. Some parts feel forced, as if the film is trying too hard to make the audience emotional. While Shoojit Sircar is known for mixing research and storytelling beautifully, this movie sometimes feels overdone or too dramatic.
Abhishek Bachchan gives an outstanding performance as Arjun. He fully transforms into the character, showing both his flaws and his strength. Ahilya Bamroo, as Reya, adds warmth to the story, and Johny Lever, Jayant Kriplani, and Kristin Goddard bring lightness to the heavy subject with their roles.
Even though the movie has some weaknesses, it is a touching story about resilience, relationships, and never giving up. I Want To Talk is a heartfelt movie that may not be perfect but still connects with the audience.
The movie is currently showing in theatres.
