Rohit Sharma buries retirement talks - 'You'll see me playing at least for...' | Cricket News - Times of India

Captain Rohit Sharma shared that India was prepared to get bowled out for just 100 runs in their first innings as the focus was on scoring quickly and pushing for a win, despite losing two days to rain. India went on to win the Kanpur Test by seven wickets with a session to spare.

Rohit revealed how India’s aggressive approach on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh led to a historic win. India scored 285 runs in their first innings at a rapid rate of 8.22 runs per over in just 34.4 overs, breaking records for the fastest team 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 runs.

After only 35 overs were bowled in the first three days, it seemed like the match was heading towards a draw. However, India’s bowlers set the tone on Day 4, dismissing Bangladesh for 233 runs. When it was India’s turn to bat, Rohit and the team played aggressively, hitting boundaries from the start. Rohit scored 23 off just 11 balls, setting the pace for the rest of the lineup to play without fear of losing wickets. This helped India take a 52-run lead in just over a session.

Rohit explained that the goal was not just about scoring runs but ensuring enough overs remained to get a result. He praised the bowlers for their efforts and the batters for taking the necessary risks to secure the win.
