Congress MP and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, during a rally in Sonipat, Haryana, accused businessman Mukesh Ambani of spending "thousands of crores" on his son's wedding, saying the money belonged to the people of India. He claimed that ordinary citizens struggle to afford weddings for their children and often have to take bank loans, while a few wealthy individuals spend extravagantly.

Rahul Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government, saying it has created a system where only 25 rich people can afford to spend such huge amounts, while common people face financial difficulties. He added that farmers can only hold family weddings by taking loans, and alleged that the wealth of a few is being built at the cost of ordinary people.

Anant Ambani, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani, married Radhika Merchant, daughter of businessman Viren Merchant, in a grand ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai in July this year. The wedding was a lavish event attended by Bollywood stars and prominent political figures.

Rahul Gandhi also criticized the central government’s Agnipath scheme, claiming it was designed to take away pensions, canteen benefits, and martyr status from Indian soldiers.

Haryana, a state with a strong agricultural base, is preparing for elections on October 5, with results to be declared on October 8. The BJP is aiming for a third consecutive term in power, while the Congress is looking to make a comeback after 10 years.
