Although heavy rain is predicted in certain districts, not all areas will experience it. Fishermen are advised to avoid going out to sea. Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu have already seen widespread rain, leading to waterlogging in many areas. The weather office has forecast more rain for the next two days.
A depression in the Bay of Bengal is moving toward the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts and is likely to bring strong winds of up to 60 km/h along the coastlines until October 17. Heavy rain has also hit parts of Karnataka, causing delays in the first Test match between India and New Zealand, being held at Chinnaswamy Stadium. The weather forecast remains poor for the following day as well.
