Skoda has officially unveiled the Kylaq compact SUV after teasing it for a while. Designed specifically for the Indian market, the Kylaq will be priced at Rs 7.89 lakh and will be available for bookings starting December 2, 2024. Deliveries will begin on January 27, 2025. The car comes in six color options, including Lava Blue, Tornado Red, Carbon Steel, Brilliant Silver, Candy White, and a new Olive Gold.
The Kylaq has a similar design to the Kushaq, but it's smaller in length to fit within the sub-four-metre SUV category. It also comes with 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the Kylaq features dual digital screens, powered driver seat, leatherette seats, connected car tech, ambient lighting, and a six-speaker Canton sound system. Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.
The compact SUV is 3.95 metres long with a 2.56-metre wheelbase and 189mm of ground clearance. It has a boot capacity of 446 litres, which can expand to 1,265 litres with the seats down.
The Kylaq will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 114bhp and 178Nm of torque. It will be available with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
This is a key launch for Skoda, as it marks their return to the sub-Rs. 10 lakh price range after almost ten years. The Kylaq will compete with rivals like the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV 3OO, Maruti Fronx, Maruti Brezza, and Toyota Taisor.
