Actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda was hospitalized in Mumbai on Tuesday after accidentally shooting himself in the leg with his licensed revolver. According to his manager, the bullet has been removed, and Govinda’s condition is stable.

The incident happened around 4:45 a.m. when Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata for an event. While cleaning his revolver, it slipped from his hand and went off, causing the injury. He was immediately admitted to the ICU at CritiCare Hospital in Mumbai.

Govinda's wife, Sunita Ahuja, was not in Mumbai at the time but was informed that he is now safe and out of danger. Their daughter is currently at the hospital with him.

Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, confirmed that the bullet hit just below his knee. He explained that Govinda was putting the gun back in the cupboard when it accidentally discharged.

The 90s superstar, known for his comic roles and dance moves, made a political comeback earlier this year by joining the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena. He referred to his return as the end of a "14-year vanvaas (exile)" and expressed support for the party’s vision of "Ram Rajya."

Although there was speculation that Govinda would run for the Mumbai North-West seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, he did not receive a ticket and instead campaigned for the Shiv Sena. In 2004, he had successfully contested the same seat for the Congress party, defeating senior BJP leader Ram Naik by 50,000 votes.

Govinda’s popular films like *Aankhen*, *Raja Babu*, *Coolie No. 1*, *Hero No. 1*, *Bade Miyan Chote Miyan*, and *Haseena Maan Jayegi* were iconic in Hindi cinema during the 90s.
