Zeeshan Siddique, son of NCP leader Baba Siddique, and Bollywood actor Salman Khan recently received death threats, just weeks after former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai, allegedly by members of the Bishnoi gang. A 20-year-old suspect was arrested in Noida today.
The threats were made on Friday, October 25, and a case was filed by Zeeshan Siddique’s office. On October 12, Baba Siddique was shot outside his office while celebrating Dusshera.
The caller, identified as Mohammad Tayyab, also demanded ransom from both Zeeshan Siddique and Salman Khan. He was arrested on Tuesday morning in Noida, and the Mumbai Police are bringing him to Mumbai on a transit remand.
On October 25, Zeeshan formally joined the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction, months after being expelled from Congress. He announced plans to run in the November 20 Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Bandra East constituency, which he previously won in 2019 as a Congress candidate.
Baba Siddique, who held the Bandra seat as a Congress MLA for two terms, had joined the NCP earlier this year. So far, police have arrested 15 people connected to his murder. A Bishnoi gang member claimed responsibility, stating Baba Siddique was targeted due to his close ties with Salman Khan.
