As tensions between Israel and Hezbollah escalate, thousands of people are fleeing Lebanon in search of safety. However, ongoing Israeli airstrikes targeting areas controlled by the Iran-backed militant group have made roads and pathways nearly inaccessible.
Israel recently bombed a section of the Lebanon-Syria border, claiming it was used by Hezbollah leaders to transport weapons into Lebanon. The airstrikes created large craters along the border, effectively splitting the road in two.
Footage from the region shows long lines of cars at the border as civilians try to find ways into Syria amid the bombardments affecting both Israel and Lebanon. Many are desperate to escape the violence.
In Safra, a city known as a Hezbollah stronghold, a young boy spoke to India Today about his family’s decision to leave due to the dangerous situation. He mentioned that they were looking for a way to enter Syria and then plan to go to Iraq.
Safra has become nearly deserted, with empty streets, closed shops, and buildings reduced to rubble. Reports from India Today indicate that the movement of civilians is increasingly difficult, as they live in constant fear of Israeli airstrikes. The situation in the region remains dire, with people desperately seeking safety while facing ongoing conflict and uncertainty.
