Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directly addressed the people of Lebanon amidst the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah. Referring to Lebanon as a country that was once "the pearl of the Middle East" known for its "tolerance and beauty," Netanyahu urged the Lebanese to reclaim their country, which he said Hezbollah has turned into a stockpile of weapons and an Iranian military base.
His appeal came after Israel increased its ground operations in southern Lebanon as part of its 'Operation Northern Arrows' against Hezbollah. In a video message, Netanyahu said, “Do you remember when your country was called the pearl of the Middle East? I do. What happened to Lebanon? A group of tyrants and terrorists destroyed it.”
He added, “Lebanon was once known for its tolerance and beauty, but today it is a place of chaos and war.” Netanyahu warned the people of Lebanon to act now and save their country before it falls into a long, destructive war like the one in Gaza.

“You, the people of Lebanon, are at a crossroads. You can choose to take back your country and bring it back to peace and prosperity. If you don’t, Hezbollah will keep fighting Israel from within your communities, dragging Lebanon into a wider war,” he said.
Netanyahu vowed to eliminate Hezbollah and claimed to have already killed thousands of its militants, including former leaders like Hassan Nasrallah and his successors. He asserted, “Israel has decided to put an end to this. We will do whatever is necessary to protect our people and win. And Israel will win.”
Despite Israel’s advances and continued strikes, Hezbollah remains defiant. The conflict, which has lasted over three weeks, has resulted in over 1,400 deaths and displaced 1.2 million people. Hezbollah's former deputy, Naim Qassem, stated on Tuesday that the group had overcome recent Israeli attacks and its capabilities are still intact.
