Israel removed a map of India from its official website after social media users criticized it for showing Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan. Reuven Azar, Israel's ambassador to India, said the map was taken down because it was an editor's mistake.
The issue was first highlighted by a user on X, who asked, “India stands with Israel. But does Israel stand with India?” They pointed out the incorrect map on Israel's website. India has always stated that Jammu and Kashmir is an essential part of the country.
This incident comes as Israel is involved in a multi-front war in the Middle East after the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah last week. Over 1,000 people have died, and more than a million have been displaced as Israel shifted its focus from Gaza to Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah positions.
The situation worsened when Iran launched around 200 missiles at Israel, leading Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to threaten retaliation.
Recently, during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Netanyahu showed two maps. One map marked countries like Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen as "The Curse," while the other marked Egypt, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and India as "The Blessing."
Both maps included Palestinian territories, the West Bank and Gaza, as part of Israel, and also showed the Golan Heights in Syria as Israeli territory.
