The funeral of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the group’s headquarters in Beirut, will be held on Friday, reports say. His death marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, raising fears of a broader regional war.

According to India Today’s Ashraf Wani, the airstrike destroyed a six-story building. Protests erupted in Iran following news of Nasrallah’s death. Demonstrators chanted slogans like “Down with the US,” “Down with Israel,” and demanded revenge while holding photos of the slain leader. Iran has also called for an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council due to rising tensions between Hezbollah and Israel. Lebanon has announced a five-day mourning period for Nasrallah.

Following his death, sirens sounded across several parts of Israel. A projectile launched from Lebanon landed in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, but no injuries were reported. The Israeli military said the sirens near Jerusalem were triggered by a rocket launch from Lebanon.

Shortly after Nasrallah's death, the Israeli military claimed to have killed Hassan Khalil Yassin, who led a Hezbollah unit responsible for locating Israeli targets. Hezbollah announced that Nasrallah’s cousin, Hashem Safieddine, will take over as the group’s leader. Both men had been involved with the organization since its early days.

On Monday night, Israel began "targeted ground raids" in southern Lebanon, despite international calls for restraint. In retaliation, over 100 rockets were fired from Lebanon at northern Israel, but no injuries were reported. Israel responded with airstrikes on central Beirut, killing six and injuring eight people.

Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported that in the past 24 hours, 46 people were killed and 85 were injured in Israeli attacks across the country.
