French-American rapper Lucas Coly, known for his 2016 viral hit "I Just Wanna," has died at age 27, his manager confirmed on October 3.

His agency, I Discover Stars, shared the news in a statement on Instagram Stories, saying, “My brother is gone. Don’t wait until someone dies to show them appreciation.” Coly's manager also posted a heartfelt message, which was later deleted. “There’s a hole in my heart right now,” he wrote. “Being your manager was one of the reasons I stayed here. I still can’t believe you’re gone.”

The cause of Coly’s death has not been disclosed.

Coly started his career over a decade ago on Vine and later gained popularity on YouTube, where he shared music in both English and French, amassing almost half a million subscribers. In a 2017 interview, he revealed that he was born in France and moved to the U.S. when he was 8 years old. “Most people don’t know I speak French because I don’t usually mention it,” he said, adding that he wanted to create more music with French lyrics to connect with fans globally.

Coly’s passion for music was evident throughout his life. He admitted to struggling in school and said he barely graduated. “I just want to rap. If it’s not about making music, I don’t want to do anything else,” he explained.

Some of his other notable tracks include "Feelings" (2017), "Break Ya Back" (2018), and "I Look Better" (2021). In his last Instagram Story before his death, Coly wrote to his 1.3 million followers: “I love y'all.”
